I don’t usually post the names of these cartoons because they are only named to help me organize the file on my computer. No one ever really sees the actual titles of the cartoons when they come across them online. Unless they save the image to their hard drives I suppose. Then they would see them. Nevertheless, the cartoons do have names.

The name of this cartoon is “Never Don’t Give Up”…which I suppose means….give up?

I had forgotten the name of this cartoon because I drew it a few months ago in hopes that the New Yorker Magazine would pick it up. They did not and I figured that three months is long enough to wait for an answer. You know what they say…if you don’t hear a reply, that is your answer. So anyway, I decided that today was the day to finally release this cartoon to the world. When I saw the name of the cartoon it gave me a chuckle. The name has almost nothing to do with the cartoon itself because this particular hamster doesn't know the meaning of quit! Alas, the name of the cartoon is still “Never Don’t Give Up”.

My friend Kevin Paquet is the one that came up with the idea for this cartoon. He emailed me the idea and I thought it was brilliant! I don’t always draw cartoons suggested by other people but, on occasion, I love to do it. It helps me get over writer’s block and when the idea is as simple and brilliant as this…well, you just have to act on it!

It took me hours to draw this cartoon. Turns out drawing a cartoon hampster is HARD! Harder than I thought it would be. All in all, though, it was worth it!

To date, this is one of my favorite cartoons. Thank you Kevin for the idea! I can’t wait for the next one.
