Yeah, Yeah, Yeah….I know...I missed out on a fantastic 4/20 cartoon opportunity today.

Truth is, is draw a lot of these cartoons days, or even weeks, ahead of time and I never planned for a cartoon to fall on 4/20. I did however plan one for Earth Day. It may be a couple days early – but here it is! After all, flat Earth Day....I mean...Earth Day is this Friday!

Now, I don’t mean for this to trigger any conversations or debates about the flat Earth conspiracy. The cartoon is just all in good fun. After all, the Earth being flat is not a debate. The Earth is 100% round. As illustrated by the other planets in the solar system floating around and not being flat in this cartoon.

Nonetheless, this cartoon with either gain support from the Flat Earth Society if they think that it is illustrating their side of the argument. OR...it will gain dissatisfaction from them if they think it is picking on them. Which one is it? I’ll never tell.

(The earth is defiantly round)

In fact, I am trying to be as discrete as possible here. I don’t want anyone to know what my thoughts are on this debate. (round) I am trying to keep a low profile and not rock the boat as to attract as many fans of my cartoons as possible. You know what they say, if you alienate 50% of your audience - that means that you lost 50% of your followers. Since I am new at this, and don’t have much of a following, I can’t afford to lose any fans of my work.

(That said...the earth is absolutely round)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and who am I to challenge that?

Even if we have known that the Earth was round since around 3rd century B.C., when Hellenistic astronomy established the roughly spherical shape of Earth as a physical fact and then calculated the Earth's circumference.

Even if we have photos and film and a space station that 250+ people, from 20 different countries, have visited.

Even if you can clearly see the curve of the earth from an airplane in some instances. None of that, in any way, means that I should disparage others for thinking that the Earth is flat. (Which it most certainly is not)

Anyways, I hope you have a happy Earth Day this Friday! My girlfriend and I will be celebrating because…not only is it Earth Day...it is also our anniversary! I think I will take her to a nice flat restaurant to celebrate. I will probably order some spaghetti and meat flats, with a nice loaf of garlic bread on the side.

Cheers,

~tod
