This cartoon stems from a cartoon I made way back in 1994. Well, technically 1993 when I was just fifteen years old.

If you’ve read my bio section on this website, you will see that I produced a calendar for 1994 with my cartoons. I had wanted to publish a book but I couldn’t afford it, so I went with a calendar instead. For April I drew a cartoon about the Easter Bunny facing economic hardship.
Here it is:

Since I got back into cartooning this year, my girlfriend and I have hung the old calendar in our entryway for inspiration. (Also, the 1994 calendar almost perfectly lines up to the days and weeks of 2022) Each month we chuckle at what my 15-year-old brain came up with for cartoon ideas. She said that I should just post the 90’s version for the Easter cartoon this year, but I felt it could use a little finessing. After all, I’m older and smarter now, right?

Well…I’m certainly older.

I think I may just redo all of the cartoons from that retro calendar at some point. At the very least it will give me 12 new cartoon ideas that I don’t have to come up with.

Maybe I’ll make it a game? If any cartoon you see over the next few months seems to you like they were written by a teenager in the 90s, call me out on it and see if your suspicions were correct? We will call it, “are you smarter than a fifteen-year-old”! I’m pretty sure that nothing like that has ever been done before…

That’s today’s cartoon folks! Happy Easter! I’ll see you again Wednesday with the next cartoon. Be Safe & Be Well.

Cheers,

~tod
